Planet Wind comes to Gippsland

Gippslanders flocked to the Regent Theatre in Yarram this month to get a first look at Planet Wind - a documentary film that tells the human stories behind offshore wind globally.

The film features Gippsland – and Australia – as a new market where offshore wind can help solve energy and climate challenges while creating new local jobs and business opportunities.

We’ve always believed in Gippsland’s potential to lead offshore wind in Australia, so it was exciting to watch with locals from across the region who have been part of the Star of the South journey over many years.

We’ll update you on any future local screenings.

Getting out in South Gippsland

Thanks to everyone who stopped to talk with us at the Toora Triathlon & Family Fun Day and Foster Agricultural Show this month.

It was great to catch up with familiar and new faces to talk about offshore wind and answer questions about project timing, port options and future job opportunities.

Joining forces to help prepare Gippsland workers

This week TAFE Gippsland launched The Clean Economy Workforce Transition Framework For Gippsland, developed in partnership with Federation University, Star of the South and EnergyAustralia.

Funded through the Victorian Government's Clean Economy Workforce Capacity Building Fund, the framework sets out local education and training pathways for future jobs in the region's energy sector.

Gippsland has powered Victoria for generations. Partnerships like are this are important to keep and build a skilled local workforce so we can continue powering the state for many more generations to come.

Empowering Gippsland women

Gippsland Women in New Energy (GWNE) is a new network created to foster an environment where women can thrive and lead in the region's new energy sector.

GWNE will officially launch on Friday 8 March - International Women's Day - at Carrajung Estate.

We'll be there, and look forward to connecting with women and men from across Gippsland interested in creating a diverse and inclusive energy industry for the region.
